Network Media Tanks (NMT) and 5.1 audio out
I am in the lookout for a good Network Media Tank player. Xtreamer seems to be a popular and cost-effective choice, however, as with other brands such as popcorn hour and wdtv, all have only a pair of stereo RCA jacks at the back.
What this means is, we need to purchase an additional 5.1 Dolby or DTS decoder to be able to hook it up to a 5.1 speakers and enjoy 5.1 audio. Sure, we can findĀ Klipsch ProMedia DD-5.1 and Creative DDTS-100, but they are expensive.
The reason for this post is that I just wonder, why cheap DVD players have 5.1 outputs at the back while NMTs only have stereo. For this reason, would this be a good reason to hold off buying current NMTs?
