AMD Launches The 790GX Chipset

August 7, 2008 · Filed Under Anything AMD, Technology

Barely a month since I have bought a Emaxx 780G-Pro motherboard, AMD today officially launches the 790GX chipset, along with a new SB750 south-bridge chip, adding RAID-5 capability from SB700 with the 790GX graphics core boosted from 500MHz to 700MHz.

Honestly, I’m very satisfied with the old 780G chipset, since I really feel its of potency in driving resource hungry Windows applications. With that said, I can’t find a reason (as of now) to immediately upgrade to the new 790GX, but for those shopping for a low-priced yet powerful desktop motherboard, be sure to get this latest 790GX.
