Create Your Tinyurl Link Now, Before Others Redirect Your Website
Webmasters should be wary about spammers and pranksters taking advantage of the new Tinyurl feature that allows the capability to customize a URL, and redirect your website in other places where it shouldn’t be.
In an interesting article from louisgray.com, Dell’s tinyurl link was redirected to a porn page, while big name brands like Amazon was embedded with an affiliate cookie, so anything you buy from Amazon gives the referrer a commission.
We all know that this is just the start and I am sure that people will find more creative use of this service. While in some instances, people might find amusement in redirecting websites (Techcrunch redirected to Techmeme), the site owner might not find it funny. So it is best to be on guard and create your own Tinyurl now.
