New Trojan Spreads Via MP3 and Multimedia Files
July 14, 2008 · Filed Under Technology, security
In a recent report of ITWire, MP3s and multimedia files such as WMV can now be embedded with a trojan. The sneaky part is, those infected MP3s continue to play normally, but would require a certain “codec” to be downloaded in order to play. But instead of getting a codec, the link goes to install malware in your computer.
MP3 files obtained from peer to peer networks are said to be at risk. But readers are quick to react that such news might just be a propaganda from recording execs to inhibit illegal MP3 downloads.
