Windows XP reaches end-of-sales

July 1, 2008 · Filed Under Microsoft

Technology doesn’t stand still, and so does Microsoft. This is the reason why Microsoft has announced that  June 30, 2008 would be the last day that Windows XP would be available as a stand-alone product, paving the way for Vista to become Microsoft’s mainstream Operating System.

Although Windows XP would not be sold in stores anymore, Microsoft emphasizes that it is not “pulling the plug” on Windows XP. Just recently, Microsoft has released Windows XP SP3 and has made clear that their technical support for WIndows XP would continue until 2014.

I’m sure that this recent move by Microsoft would affect millions and millions of Windows XP users who continue to use it. Vista is readily available, yes, but who needs a new Operating System if your current one continues to serve your needs?
