Getting Past the Gmail Operation Aborted error
During the past couple of days, I have been constantly encountering the Operation aborted error when opening my Gmail account. This problem happens not only in my office PC but also on my laptop at home as well, ruling out any possible computer misconfiguration on both computers, which are running IE7 and browsing is ok on other sites.
A very straight solution would be to use or install Firefox, but for IE lovers, there are a couple of things you could do namely;
- Clear the Internet Explorer cache. Navigate to Tools –> delete browsing history, then try logging onto Gmail again. In some cases, the IE7 Tool menu is hidden so you’ll have to press the Alt button while IE is active.
- If tip #1 does not work, you can alternatively press the “Load Basic HTML” option before the error appears. This will log you inside your Gmail account but Google chat will not function.
- The last thing to do if Gmail still won’t load is to click this URL http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1 after getting the operation aborted error. Since your credentials were already cached by your browser, you’ll be granted access inside your Gmail account after this.
I’ll be happy to see your comments and findings regarding this issue.
Update: the problem seems to have vanished when I selected the newer version option during the time I successfully logged into Gmail. This will prevent doing the tips here over and over again when you need to access Gmail.
