Free Blogger Site allowing content thieves to flourish

October 10, 2006 · Filed Under Adsense, Blogging, Web

Google should start charging the use of its Blogger website to control the rise of those people stealing the content from other sites then monetize them using Adsense.

It might have happened to you, especially if your blog has huge traffic volumes. As soon as you have posted an article, you’ll see the same, exact, word-for-word content posted into someone elses’ “phony” blogger site with all the adsense ads around it. They make it appear as if they own the content.

One of the worst cases I have seen is someone posting such articles into popular forums such as Digital point, then point the links to his website via his signature. All of this acts without giving proper due respect or links to the original content source.

Most of these “phony” blogs are made from free sites such as Blogger. Since the service is free, it is very easy to create a fake account with fake credentials then earn from adsense.

You may say that we can report these offenders via the google ad feeback button, but I highly doubt if Google can immediately act on them. Unless Google can positively verify the identities of the persons behind these blogs, I am sure that this problem will be with us for a long time.
